Porting and modding your chainsaw

Okay so Im getting myself a Stihl ms261 and im gonna be modifying it, but i was curious if by doing so I'll need to adjust the fuel ratio

It will have M-tronic (auto carb tune) so the answer is, no you won't have to adjust the carb. I just did that mod on a Stihl 193, does not have M-tronic so adjustments had to be made. I must admit my 261 w/M-tronic runs awesome, do not see the need to mod (for me anyway) but more power to you ;-)

I run 50:1 in all my saws, so I wasnt sure if that will be too lean for this being modded

I only change the premix ratio on the ported saws, not the ones with simple muffler/timing mods.

Sorry, misunderstood, thought you meant carb adjustment not fuel mix.

Brad suggests running a little heavier (more oil) mix on ported saws.
