Pfanner Man: have saw, will travel

Eh-hem. Mmmm. I think there's a line for that oportunity
Ha ha I know just thought I'd ask! I had an idea for you Steve but not sure if it would work after the Sherrill get together ! Since we are flying together somewhat I was gonna get you on the flight back to Toronto with me and drive you back the next week to Baltimore for the tree expo!!! Sorry to hijack the thread Pfanner man. I'll email you Steve! Still lots of water access and crane work and stuff here before the snow flies ! Or another idea Pfanner man could do a week in Virginia beach then come Here with you!

When you "double block" rigged with the tht did the ground guy have to take wraps? I saw it was redirected again down low. I'm finding issues with getting ground guys to understand the distributed friction and compensating on the ground

Not only are you super accomplished at your job you have an incredible sense for editing. That, so far, is my favourite tree work vid.

Deevo,

No to hijack Pfanner's post but that is an amazing offer. I would love to do that. Unfortunately I don't have a passport. I learned how much I wish I did as I was kicking trash around the USA side of Niagara Falls trying to get a decent photo with out any hobos or empty beer cans. I wanted to go to the Mecca on your side and leave the slum of upstate NY. The casinos were beckoning me.

I also need just a bit more notice. My 7 year old does my scheduling and he feels like I'd have a little much on my plate to be out of town for another week. Reasonable I guess since he gave me a kitchen pass to go to Jambo. I would absolutely love to take you up on the offer but my Dad and fire department schedule just won't work for that week. Guess I better start working on a passport. Thanks though. Such a generous offer! Please allow me a rain check!

Sorry Lawrence for cluttering your post.

great question. the rope went down to an XRR redirect and took a 120 degree turn to another redirect on another tree where it took another 120 degree turn to be fairleaded into the HOBBS lowering device. so between those two redirects i figure the rope already has about 3/4 of a wrap before the groundies even put it on the lowering device. but that doesn't really answer your question...

basically, it's gonna depend on weight of the piece, rope diameter in the safebloc, how many holes you have it thread thru, what kinda lowering device you're using, etc, etc. ask them how many wraps they would take if it were in a block, then work backwards from there. like a chunk they would put 3 wraps on may only need 2 if you add the safebloc, maybe 1 + 1/2. if they don't wrap enough they are less likely to get burned/ pulled by the line but if they over wrap you'll still go for a big ol ride ;)

hmmmm, very interesting :D when does the snow start flying?

also very interesting ;) what's the winter look like for work down there?
currently booked into Nov...
i'll be at TCIA so we can at least all get a beer :birra:
Usually anytime after October but were spared last winter with not a whole lot of snow and mild temps! Oh it's cold and nasty for the most part! I wouldn't put you through the pain! Most go into hibernation here ! For sure, I think we are all meeting at the one handing demo at the indoor tree setup at the tree expo Thursday morning !
