petzl rope wrench

Rock exotic’s little button thing is patented and they defend it. Did they ever get surveyors blessing on the zig-zag? He was the first to adapt the roller chain idea.

Petzl has been shit and I’ve been saying it for a long time. I still use their vertex I think I have a headlamp made by them. They have botched the industrial market

Can you say Kong?

But what good is that if the zigzag isn't midline attachable?

Switching SRT to DdRT and back while riding the crane ball on removals. Fumbling with the slick pin isn't the worst, but it could be a little faster, and if you drop the pin you've got to have a groundie shuffle through your equipment bin for the spare. Crane costs $150/hr.-ish, so you lose $50.

Btw, I'm not liking this Petzl thing. I think they are "brave" to put it out on the market because they are a big company.

I'm guessing that ISC will not pursue this, elsewise Kevin would have said so.

You know you don't have to take the pin all the way out to get the rope in and out. Problem solved!

Huh? My RW needs the nub pressed in through both plates before it will accept my cougar blue rope. I get that you might be able to leave it barely in the second plate, but that would be precarious, to me - slightest knock and the pin would go flying. What do you do, exactly?

But what good is that if the zigzag isn't midline attachable? Petzl appears to be getting lazy in the development part of their devices.
Agree the floppy carabiner connecting them should have been eliminated.
The second hole might be for tending.

Midline attractability of petzl's rope wrench is important to switch from set to ddrt. The only advantage petzl offers is certifications.

I grab the tether on the RW all the time, most of the tethers out there are very grippable, the Petzl tether hand grip design (essentially a handled ascender design) does nothing to improve stationary system climbing ergonomics, handled ascenders are a completely different paradigm, they may be stuck in a time warp.

Interesting, I just haven't used the RW tether that way. Might just give it a whirl.
