No Belt

Accckkk, "no job for an amateur"???....the person doing the filming even has a website and a TV show? and gives out the climber's phone number at the end....

Crikey, not only is he up there with no saddle (spurs though, it looks like) but it appears that he cut out what were likely good rigging points, and thus is now left with the last branch hanging over the primary, that has to be rigged off itself.

I'm emailing this Fenwick guy with a few choice words.

That IS crazy! Funny thing is that guy would probably turn out to be a good climber with some training... and oh yeah, a harness!!

probably true, if he lives long enough with rigging like that over the wires. Looks like he had to knot the rigging lines together so it was of a useable length

I was gonna comment on his one handed use of a saw, but it seems beside the point!

Even a homeowner would've tied in! This guy has no excuses whatsoever.

He will take a fall one day, it will be his last.

wow, that's terrible.

Shame, he will die surely doing this work.

Unless someone gets him to get some gear and instruction.

Probably does jobs extremely cheap too and doesn't have much money to get proper equipment.

Anyone going to call that number?

Somebody oughta....

here's what I sent the videographer...

George is no PRO!!!
To: bfenwick@mindspring.com

I just saw the video you took of that idiot working on
a tree. I am appalled that you called him a
professional! It is amazing that the fool is alive.

NO professional arborist would ever consider climbing
into a tree without a proper climbing harness. Yet,
here's George, barely hanging on to what left of this
large tree, while, with one hand, he ties a rope to a
branch, then lies on it and somehow swings his saw
into position, all the while clinging to the tree.
Even more hilarious is what he's left himself
with...one branch that is leaning over the primaries,
with all the rest cut away, including what would have
been some good spots for appropriate rigging points
that would have allowed that branch to have been cut
in a much safer fashion.

Please consider removing that nonsense from your site.
Call a good company that employs ISA certified
arborists and ask if they'll let you film them doing
tree work the right way.

ISA = International Society of Arboriculture
Sincerely,

Roger Barnett,

Great email!

Good to see you have eye protection and chinstrap on your helmet.

You should see if one of your groundies could rescue you when you are in that position. With the Ms200 still running hanging down below you.

Bet they couldn't get you down within 4 mins.
