New Zealand climbers connection

Hello. I'll be on the north Island of NZ in mid June. . .about 4 weeks from now. Doing a recon trip seeking the viability of living there for at least a couple years. I am a contract tree climber. Anybody out there live on the north island? If so, are you willing to day host. I'll be traveling in camper van with my wife. BTW she's already interviewed for a couple of jobs there and will be the "lead person" (as NZ immigration likes to call it). Any suggestions or insights are welcomed. Thank you

There are tons of opportunities in NZ for Arborists. Based on what visa you get will limit what you are able to do for work. Unless you hold a residency visa you will not be able to contract climb and will be limited to employee status. It won’t be difficult to find work as an employee BUT be prepared for pretty measly wages. The N. island has a pretty large span of business. The bast paying I have come across is in the Hawkes bay region and Kapiti coast. There are a few good company’s in the Auckland area that pay decent and do some neat projects, you just have to find them. The cost of business and all of the health and safety requirements eat up profit margins leaving little for the employee.

With that said, NZ is a pretty rad place and the payoff of poor wages is a fantastic lifestyle. I lived and worked in NZ for a bit of time in the past. Feel free to DM if you have any specific questions. Also check out “New Zealand Tree Climbers” FB page and “New Zealand Arb Jobs” FB page.
