Time for a new truck. I really want a cabover this time, preferably with an aluminum box. I tried this one today, was sweeeeeeeet, 2013 ISUZU NRR 215 HP Automatic, 26k km, asking 63k neg.

It's a nice truck, but that will make some nice monthly payments also, especially during the winter months.
Option 2 is this 2000 Hino FB1817, 168 HP, 5 speed stick, 160K, asking 25K negotiable. Original owner, only one driver.

I'm a little worried about the power on the Hino, even if it has a 17 800 GVWR, seems low at 168hp. I did run some Fuso FG140s when I was working for a guy and they only have like 150hp, but they would definetly struggle with larger loads. The Hino isn't a long term truck, but the dump body could always be swapped out if I do decide to upgrade.

I have two old 8.2L detroit diesels (only rated at 176hp.) in F800's they keep up with traffic, slow on hills but all the trucks make it to the job at the same time either way. Bucket has a 7.4L gas chevy at 4mpg, detroit motors average 12 mpg - 1 in an old bucket 22k lbs. empty, 1 in dump 30yd. chip box 30k loaded. Every truck pulls a trailer between 10 - 20k lbs. loaded. New doesn't always mean better. Clean old trucks look pretty sweet too. And you pay them off when you get them.

James, what makes you think the Eloquip looks better ?Thanks !
While you can't see much in the photos what you can see on the other body just looks cheap i.e. the hinges, side gate latch, etc. and if they cheaped out there, what is the rest of the box like?

we're about to take delivery on our 2nd eloquip body and they are not cheap but they are very well built, I think you would buy that hino for less than what it would cost to build the body that's on it.

Company I worked for had a bucket truck with an aluminum box and it kept cracking in the upper corners, so thin it would tear beside the repairs until the corners had to be gusseted.

Are any of these trucks 4 wheel drive? Or is that not a big deal. I'm thinking about driving in snow, or backing your chipper across a lawn, on a slope.
