New Pantin vs Old

Aside from the size difference, the new one has some slight changes.

The way the top strap travels through the pantin itself appears like it would change the orientation on your foot with a slight pitch.

No biner lockoff hole

The foot strap has no cordura on it and doesn't look like it would last long.

The clasps for the webbing have changed and do seem like they won't slip as much. I still stitched my bottom foot strap in place and put some cordura on it.

Don't forget the price hike. Its funny were paying more for less material it seems. But the value isn't based solely in the materials I'm sure. The smaller lower snag design makes it more comfortable to leave on in the tree I'm sure. The revised ergonomics of the top strap probably play a role in comfort as well. Looking forward to a review or two.

I enjoyed my pantin but I personally have fallen in love with my new CT foot ascender. Love the strap lock off and the locking cam so there's no accidental kickouts.

A friend spent some time comparing the old and new pantin recently and overall prefers the old style. Maybe just more familiar, hard to say (I have not used on yet). He does say the smaller size is nice, and one place it will rock is with kids (they are natural climbers).

So we both orderd another old style just to have in case they quit making the old style.

ymmv of course.

At some point I am hoping to try the ct as well as the new style pantin for myself.
