New chainsaw lanyard

I want one. They make so much good stuff. We as americans should try to out build them in these advancements. Bring some of the tree care revenue from around the world back to home.

Chainsaw lanyards are great in certain situations up top. But there are certain times and situations when I personally think they're dangerous to the user's well being up top as well.

Like performing an overhead zip cut with a high likelihood of being brushed by the top as it zips down in close proximity to you and tangling in your saw lanyard while your chains still spinning?

why not.. FRESCO had a pretty cool chainsaw lanyard it was a brake away, but it had a buckle at the saw end so several saws could be swithched quickly as you needed em clearly a climber had thought about it,, i wanted one but im pretty sure sherril put them out of busniss, WHAT HAPPENED TO FRESCO!!!!???

I'm one of those climbers that uses rope snaps on my trimsaws. This allows me to quickly connect or disconnect from my saw lanyard depending on circumstances.

It also allows me to pull out the saw's starter cord and hang it on a limb when I want to reduce my weight in iffy tops or laterals I can prune or remove with my handsaw.

Really love the idea of reducing peak forces on a chainsaw stuck to a potential load. But it does make me wonder about the integrity of my gear loops, which is where my saw is attached, regardless of it's size. What goes first, the lanyard or the loop?

My saw hangs on a carabiner that is going through the main webbing on my harness, so I know that isnt going to bust!

I think the real answer is that since you don't know, you shouldn't count on it to behave in any certain way.

Call me crazy, but I just use a piece of half inch line attached with biners to saw and belt. Attached to belt on little mini ditty d ring (cougar). I figure one of those would tear pretty easily. Am I crazy?

I don't know. How strong is that loop? I bet weaver prefers to make things stronger rather than weaker. I wouldn't count on an assumption as part of my safety system.
