Hey was hiking by my nearby stream and looking for some nice drift wood pieces, and came upon a bunch from this unknown tree, at least to my knowledge. Wondering if anyone knows what kind of tree this is. Thanks!

Looks like something Salix sp. to me... but the pics can always be confusing.

Does it grow horizontally out of left-handed mountains?

Horizontally out of right-handed mountains?

Vertically out of the roofs of caves?

Or vertically out of the ground?

It's all so confusing...

From your location I would say Live Oak and from the growth habit I would say it is a bunch of stump sprouts. Try getting in touch with Mark Duff with the TX forestry commission. He is in your area.

Looks kinda like bottlebrush to me. Not quite right for Quercus, to me anyway, but I have the luxury of a large monitor right now.
