Neck Tether

That's why I put a sling around the basement steel poles and a RAD System during the winter, and a clear and Main Sail winch in the garage the rest of the year. They both work Great!

Jeff, I climb and rig every splice I make, and I splice just about everything, with the exception of Kermantle. I do however splice Kernmaster. I just bought 600 meters of Yale Prison. I heard it was being discontinued, apparently only TreeStuff is discontinuing it. Rope and Knot Supply doesn't have very much left after my order. I still use it on the Rope Runner & the BullDog Bone, it works great on both devices.

Well, the splicing interest seems to expand to other projects, is what I meant... and stop making fun of my splicing. I've been climbing on some of them. You're making me nervous! ;)
I think my dumb joke went over your head : )

Just hope your lady hasn't caught you jamming the washing machine drain pipe is all...:foto:

Neck tether. Just took the core out of some armorprus. Replaced with black bungy and put a dmm shadow on it. The key for me was to find how long I needed my armor prus sheath to be vs the bungy. Never once had it catch. Never once have I had a problem where it felt tight... as far as the asphyxiation idea goes... prolly not possible actually. If you were to pass out, only way it would be able to strangle you is if you went forward.... however given the location of our equipment etc, passing out forward is pretty well nigh impossible. Instead you would slide off sideways or backwards putting pressure on the back of your neck. Not once have I ever been worried about it. Been rocking one about 3 years

Here's what I've been using for many years.

The metal piece is a slider from a camera neck strap.

The cord is nothing exotic. Just some shock cord that I scavenged somewhere

Total cost...$0.00

I appreciate the endorsement of the simplest system for tending SRT by someone as experienced and respected as you are. Seems that I hear a lot of bashing because "it is a hazard" with zero incidents on record thus far.

I also like the simple length adjuster.

Listen people. I use I neck tether, so this isn't coming from the safety police.
Wear your neck tether, clip into your system, then lean back. Let that sucker be what holds you up, like go totally limp.
Now tell that thing won't cause a problem if you were dangling there knocked out.

I WILL find that video someone posted a out it, I really think it's something to keep it mind.

It was Giorgio Fiori, I'm pretty sure. He had a video about it, anyway.

This one?

That's the guy. I'm open to other peoples opinions, I won't get all "mrtree" on ya's, but me personally, I acknowledge the potential risk. Like I said, I like using a neck tether, but the choking hazard, I think, is real

I believe that it is a potential hazard, but still one that is way overblown. Not in severity, but in likelihood.
As always, being aware and careful almost eliminates the actual risk.
