Busted my fibula and tore the shit out of my ankle about 6 weeks ago..Wait, I missed something. What happened?
Oh shit man. Work injury?Busted my fibula and tore the shit out of my ankle about 6 weeks ago..
Solid tree work with good sharp saws, Thank you for including some big log bucking, It is a commonly overlooked element of tree work which require as much skill and precision as any other task. Not to mention one of the more dangerous tasks
Yup. Wasn't climbing though..Came off a 3-4ft diameter redwood log on some choppy ground landing on a rock or chunk of wood, and my leg and ankle folded.Oh shit man. Work injury?
Funny you should say that... NO ONE on the crew I spent the last 8-10 month working with knew how to properly buck mill logs..Pinched saws, pulled fibers, split wood, inefficiently breaking down a tree, and wasted board footage..Drove me fucking nutz.Solid tree work with good sharp saws, Thank you for including some big log bucking, It is a commonly overlooked element of tree work which require as much skill and precision as any other task. SHit man. What kind of friend am I. I'm so sorry I haven't been paying attention. Is there anything you need help with or I can do for you?Yup. Wasn't climbing though..Came off a 3-4ft diameter redwood log on some choppy ground landing on a rock or chunk of wood, and my leg and ankle folded.
Thanks Steve.. If you could come over and finish getting my firewood ready for this winter it would be much appreciated... other than that I think I'm good..SHit man. What kind of friend am I. I'm so sorry I haven't been paying attention. Is there anything you need help with or I can do for you?
But was he?Hey Rico, you should probably tell him you’re just kidding before he gets to the airport
I get it. I haven't booked my tickets yet so its ok!! Someday i'm gonna go out there and get a schooling on west coast work.Hey Steve, Rico did break his leg. My reply urging him to tell you he was kidding before you get to the airport was just a lame attempt at humor and pointing out your obvious sincerity in your offer to help. I think everyone here knows you are a stand up dude and your offer of help wasnt just a meaningless token offering. Hence the “stop him before he gets on a plane”

Wow, just read about your injury Rico. Really sorry to hear about it. Boy shit happens fast in our business. How old are you again? I'm sure that you have many good years of climbing ahead of you. I just turned 55 on Aug 5th, suffered a massive heart attack 3 yrs ago (weighing only 168 lbs) and still get out there climbing everyday.Yup. Yeah, Steve is most definitely a stand up guys. Met him years ago at our crane workshop in PA and get the pleasure of seeing him every year that I go down there. Late 50's, so I got a few years on you. I started climbing and working in the woods professionally just before my 16th birthday, so there is a lot of milage on this body...I have been very fortunate to have remained mostly injury free during my career, but at my age this latest injury was no joke. My narrow ass was officially whooped...Wow, just read about your injury Rico. Really sorry to hear about it. Boy shit happens fast in our business. How old are you again?
