My groundman just joined a major mcycle gang so....

While I agree with you, I have to wonder if any "workers rights" laws were compromised. In this business and especially your client area, an owner cannot have employees of questionable character. I once had the brother of my main employee working for us in our busiest part of the year. One of my clients called me after we had been on her property and informed me that she had some jewelry missing. The kid denied it, and the client did not press further, but I lost that client because of it.

He is not the type to let any dust settle on him. He is off somewhere else, non tree work. In a couple of months he would have hit 4 years. Been a real good employee. He hadn't had a mcycle in years and rode Suzuki's etc when younger. Then he buys a Harley (you cannot be a member without one)...and a few months later...at 48 years old...he is a motorcycle gang member. Go figure. I told him, you drop the gang and I'd be happy to have you back. His girl friend threw him out...It all seems surreal to me.

Anyhoo, got a real good replacement already. Could have used em both.

I worked with a Mongul for a while. Great guy until he friended me and played me. Took advantage of my good nature. I got him a great job with another company. Gave him some cash to get on his feet and stuck my neck out and my reputation. He went to the new job and played them too. Fortunately the owner there is recovering so he saw it coming and was prepared. I guess the guy is still working there and keeping clean for now. I can't help but to be a little sour over it though. Seems pretty common though. Good choice. No dead bodies through your chippers.

Yet...

Thing about joining a gang is given any opportunity to correct a perceived slight...they will "gang" up on you rather than facing you one on one. Pretty cowardly if you ask me. Anyway, we be keeping a watch out for a while.

Girlfriend (old lady) finally brought my keys by yesterday. I told him to just go in without opening the gate and put them in a spot we decided on so I wouldn't have to wait around all day. Resting a bit better now.
