2 PERSON TEAMS (CLIMBER/BUCKET TRUCK OPERATOR AND GROUNDSPERSON)- JUDGED ON SAFETY PROCEDURES - SETUP, ACTUAL PRUNE SAFETY. (THE GROUND IS VERY MUDDY, BUCKET TRUCKS MUST BE MATTED IN)

JUDGES: JEFF THIERBACH, KRISTIAN SCHULTZ, VINCE KOWALSKI AND ANYONE ELSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO VOLUNTEER.

REMEMBER - THIS IS A TEAM SAFETY EVENT - ALL FOR A GOOD CAUSE - THE MTCC TREE PRUNE. COMPETITORS FOR THE MTCC ARE WELCOME ALSO - DON'T BE THE TEAM NOT THERE!

Have you contacted anybody at the Grand Rapids Bartlett office yet? I know we sent people last year to help prune... Correspondence from somebody with the MTCC might go a little farther than me walking up and asking to take off with the bucket. If it's too much trouble, no worries, I'll still look forward to being there again in August.
 
Looks like we have 8 teams signed up. It is going to be a great day!!! We have opened registration up at the park at 8:30 p.m. also. So, if you decide to come join us at the last minute - be there at 8:30. See all of you tomorrow!
 
Wow!!! It was a fabulous day at Potter Park in Lansing, Michigan yesterday!

The Arboriculture Society of Michigan's 2012 First Annual Winter Glacier Event was in process from 8:30 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon.

The registered teams were impressive. The competition was tough; but a winner emerged!

Michigan's Safety Champions are:

1st Place - Ryan Sodden and Mike Mclellan - Kappen Tree Service.

Congratulations and Great Job! Very impressive safety procedures!

2nd Place - Richard and Wayne Ellison (The Twins) - Kappen Tree Service.

Congratulations, great job and also, very impressive safety skills.

3rd Place - Jake Carufel and Tim Grondin - Kappen Tree Service.

Congratulations, great job and again, very impressive safety skills.

It could have been anyone's win, only a 7 point spread between the three teams. Again - WOW!!! All of you are a perfect example of the professionalism, knowledge and safety that it requires to be Arborists!!

We judges were so impressed with all the registered teams. All registered teams were outstanding in their quest for safer work habits. An educational day was had by all!!

Congratulations to Kappen Tree Service's sweep of 1st to 3rd. Your crews are an asset to our industry. It is obvious that you promote safety within your company and the industry.

Climbing as always and can't wait to see everyone again. There's going to be some big trees this year and with Jeff and Kristian chair the event it should totally rock.
