Minnesota Society of Arboriculture's 3rd annual Summer Climbing Workshop. July 30-31 (Fri-Sat)
This year we have a very special program with international guest speakers! James Kilpatrick and Scott Forrest will be making the trip up to the Twin Cities following the ITCC in Chicago. Our theme for this summer's two day workshop is "Big Tree Climbing: Tools and Techniques for Safe and Efficient Work at Height" (or something like that). Calling on their years of experience as international contract climbers, instructors, and competitors, James and Scott will talk through and demonstrate skills needed for accessing and navigating large, spreading crowns; beginning with a thorough site walk through and tree inspection.
We will be highlighting modern techniques and rope tools with a particular emphasis on Treemagineers products.
Want to know how to use your Hitch Climber to its fullest potential? This will be a great place to learn how.
Australian men's champ, Grant Cody and Swedish women's champ, Veronika Ericsson may also be along to offer their own unique insights.
This two-day workshop is taking place on Harriet Island, just across the Mississippi river from historic downtown St. Paul. A beautiful site. The cost is $140. Coffee and Lunch included both days, T-shirt, and door prizes. CEU's available, too. The link is not up on the MSA website, yet. Please contact me (Taylor Hamel) with a PM or at treehamel@yahoo.com for registration or more info.
If you can't make it to ITCC this year, consider MSA's Summer Climbing Workshop as an alternative. Or if you are already in Chicago, it's only a short drive or flight to the Twin Cities! This is sure to be a phenomenal event!
