I went with the bmg.
I've never used the Ryan grapple, so I can't comment on that one.
I used the vermeer grapple once, in a tight area. Though it worked decently well, I had a few concerns. To drag out the brush we had make multiple turns, and not having the 360 swivel, it would bind up. The other concern was how it hooked up the the machine. The arms almost have to be half way up, while holding the logs/branches, parallel and just off the ground. So this severely limits your lifting height Imo. I did like the lock out for the grapple though.
The overall multi functionality of the bmg, is what sold me. Having the built in porta wrap, is awesome. The attachments that are available for it, make it even more versatile. Though I wasn't convinced the scoops and rake were worth it, I went ahead and got them. The scoops are great for small stumps, and rakings (on big properties, or if just throwing them into a trailer). On larger stumps, I tend to still use a mulch bucket. Mostly because the scoops don't dig into packed grindings well. The rake does work well, to push together brush and small/big debris, on pavement. On lawns you have to be careful with the rake, it does work though. If the lawn isn't well rooted, or is thin, it rips it up. Also the rake does a great job clearing snow off of driveways and sidewalks. There is only a little coating of snow left on it...and it doesn't destroy the grass if you over shoot. The hitch is the only attachment I don't like...to weak for using on heavy trailers/chipper Imo.
