Military veterans in tree care

Two things:

I just saw a couple interviews with Kyle Carpenter and was really touched by just how much you all put on the line when you agree to serve- not only the possibility of death, but a life that will never be the same. Thank you. I can't express what I feel, but thank you.

A close coworker is a vet who impresses me in many ways. He has seen some hard things, and I thought maybe some encouraging words from other vets might be good for him. Would any of you be willing to write something for me to pass along?

Not sure what I could say, but I would be happy to help if possible. Tis a different perspective vets have. PM me I will send along my contact info.

EMDR therapy. Its not hypnosis but a therapy based on the idea that your mind heals during REM sleep and rapid eye movement so they try to replicate that during therapy.

I chronically avoid VA hospitals!

Me, too. Once I got private health insurance, I stopped going there.

...I recently looked into VA healthcare but didn't know there was a cap on income and eligibility...

Yeah, back in the day, we signed a contract. Free medical for life for signing up. That's been whittled away at and it's not so free anymore. You have to damn near be on disability and a broke-ass, homeless drunk to qualify. And, what passes these days for post-service educational benefits has been reduced to a joke. Glad I used every minute of mine up, when I got out.

The sacrifices these men and women have made on the citizens' behalf has too diluted an appreciation within this generation.

MyB-I-L began commissioned officer trainer early January with the Canadian Infantry. The sacrifices of my sister and her kids, and him so far have been not been enviable.

Hats off to all who are, or have served.

I prefer to leave the VA and what it can offer for those that need it more. I am/ was lucky. My life's course has been good, supported and I like to make own way, on my terms. Thus far I have been able to.

I was honored to serve with some of the best, to be judged worthy of their company by my country and more importantly my brothers in arms. My experiences in the Army have helped me understand a wider perspective of our world, my country and myself. I chose to make those experiences a benefit, a plus.

I fully realize not all are the same nor as fortunate. I also have the added factor of over two decades of "thinking " time.

I work with other Vets. There is a local program called. Veterans helping Veterans now. It is based out of Longmont Colorado. Feel free to PM me or pass along my information. There are things that Vets can talk to other Vets about that civilians just dont understand.tab.webp

Did ya RSVP to that party again?
Lol..No rsvp, pretty much just got a letter in the mail with reporting instructions, orders, and a plane ticket. I was just about on my third year of inactive reserve time. On top of that I had just got married and bought our house. It was kinda tough to drop civilian life unexpectedly for another trip to the sandbox. But it worked out okay, had a good crew, and some good times.
