The one that he made me out of a harness he found in a box at his shop does not have as many splices. MOre knots, not as many rings. But I really like it. Basically the same thing he is showing in the video but he has souped it up a little with more splices and rings.
Previous to this harness I had resigned myself to never being able to wear leg loop harnesses and would forever look dorky with my bosun seat. This Harness is great. It has opened my eyes to the great potential that is the classic Rope Harness. I doubt I will ever be buying a manufactured harness again. Gerald Beranek makes the same claim in his book and I could never understand it. Now I see. The back pad and leg pads are from an old Kumerling rope saddle

how does it feel on the back though, Matt seems to be wearing it really high and it looks really narrow, I like the low, hip-riding feel of the Treemotion.

got pics of yours?

I actually dont have a lot of saddles I can compare with as I find a saddle and go with it for a long time. I have never really worn a treemotion. I have been on that dragonfly for years, and before that a buckingham bosun seat saddle, before that a weaver basic. Tried a glide, and another buckingham leg loop. I got that Dragonfly and was just comfy. I love a bosun seat. I basically like the realization of this concept that you can make your own saddle however you like it. Thats the thing, you can put your back pad whereever it is comfortable on you. Or you could take your treemotion belt and run ropes on it like this. This is basically what the treemotion is just with straps and buckles instead of straight up rings.
The anchor bends make this thing easily adjustable. and inspectable. Running the rope through tunnels on the back of the harness is key. It breaks the whole thing down into one easy to grasp, this is what a harness is.

I think he's really on to something with this. The range of motion is awesome. Hope he brings it to the next comp I see him at rotfl I can check it out in person.

its a bold statement to say that this setup meets ce and ansi standards if it hasnt officially been tested. i completely understand the urge to customize gear and continually push our gear forward but personally that saddle looks terribly uncomfortable. just my two cents.
