Anyone get one routinely or buy them for the crew?
Both of my crew members have had pinched nerves in the last 2-3 weeks. One happened at work while he was just pulling out a rope away from the tree that was to be pulled over. Very low force. He didn't want to go to the doctor and just planned on resting. The other came to work but couldn't really work. I paid for them to get each get a massage at the time of their problem.
I figure that we all work our bodies hard, and so it would be a good benefit to offer them.
The second one got sick from the massage, he said. I guess pushing out a lot of built up toxins. Both felt better from the body work.
The second employee said that the massage therapist told him that he was ruining his muscles, getting all these little bunches in the fibers, shortening the muscles. She said that he needs to drink 3x's as much water and stretch twice as much as he does now.
Funny, it seems like someone already told them this, and that they should warm-up and stretch (getting paid to do it) before starting work, after breaks, and throughout the day, and that they need to drink lots of water, as it flushes their body. Something about it being more important to monitor how much liquid comes out of their bodies, not only how much goes in. Funny, I wonder who that was...but now a professional massage therapist says so, and it sinks in. If only I could remember who says that day in and day out.
Massages around here are about $45-60 per hour, but I bet there might be a slight discount if you bought 5 or 10 sessions for employees. I imagine that massage therapists are suffering in this economy. There are often MTs bartering their services, too.
