Marlow Heat Fuse sleeving

I used it to make a stiff tether for my rope wrench. I heated it with a small handheld torch making sure to keep it moving. The problem I came across with this stuff is that it seems to shrink like crazy. It's hard to get the right sized piece. The ends are also an issue as they seem to unravel and it's hard to get the heat close enough and not burn the cordage inside. It gets as hard as plastic though. Kinda cool stuff if you can get it right. Kinda pricey to have to many screw-ups

A heat gun is what you want. The small, "mini heat gun" types are under $40 and are perfect for shrink tubing and similar products.

Although I have others, this one is what I use 90% of the time... bought it for $17 about ten years ago. Gets very heavy usage, and still works as good as new.

I have not used the tubing you are talking about, but for most heat-shrink jobs it really helps if you get a heat gun with a heat-shrink tip. The heat-shrink tip is just a piece of metal that slips over the end of the heat gun and reflects the heat back around the heat-shrink tubing. It heats the tubing more uniformly and makes it shrink faster.
