Well said Mark and I've dealt with that so much recently until I started working with Mike last summer ! It's almost like you were watching my company from above when you wrote that ! I've had to wise up after my last climber nearly brought down the positive morale of my crew and they all wanted to leave a few years back, and some other issues along with that! Anyways great article Mark , and for others don't put up with that crap from a climber who thinks he's king and not replaceable because they are ! Firing people is tough but has to be done when they don't conform or are unwilling to abide by your SOP's and other company rules. Why can't all
Climbers be like Mike and Dave !!!! Get the jobs done safely have fun and respect other members of your team!

I'm not always a perfect employee, but that article really makes me want to strive to never end up being that sort of climber. Thanks for the little bit of awareness.

Like much of what we face in business this happens in all industries. The smart companies hire to build effective teams. They hire for attitude because that will also determine the ability to learn the technical skills.
Plan your recruiting instead of reacting to demand.

Hottest day of the year that job, you and Dave climbed your arses off doing the harder pines , and not one complaint other then I wasn't able to climb that day !!!! I had to keep the lads on the ground hydrated and moving !!!! That job defined awesome team work for sure, and I for one was proud of the job everyone did that day and appreciated everyone's efforts considering the weather !

Ride back to the marina on the barge was a nice cap to the day!

Let me think about the conversion for a few. Now that I've had a decent amount of beer the math eludes me. I can remember that water boils at 100c and freezes at 0c. In between is where I'm foggy at, at the moment.

Great article Mr. Chisholm.

Very well written article mark. I'm glad to read and see we are not only place that has employees who believe they are entitled and can't be replaced , I for one will not take push back from an employee , I will do anything I can to help one in need but will not tolerate ignorance we are all part of a team and respect is earned and not just given, and I believe it goes both ways

Two years before I built my tree-mek I fired all 3 of my current employees within 3 days. I remember the last guy saying,"you can't fire me! I'm your only employee!" Following that was the best 2 weeks of work I'd had in years. Nice and quiet. Nobody smashing my stuff. Nobody showing up late for work. That's when I got to thinking about my mental health and the future.
Good article.
