What an awesome video Tom, thanks for sharing! Boy ropemaking has come a long way.
When I was in Portsmouth England I walked the 600’ cableways. There were some small brading machines setup. The new anchor rope was in the rope locker of the HMS Victory. Impressive

After an engagement Captain Aubrey would set out a list of work oh his HMS Surprise. Any men not assigned would be given the general order to ‘knot and splice’. There was always repair work needed
