Low Risk Herbicide?

I've tried several organic non-selective products like avenger, burnout, greenmatch burndown.

The main issue with these products are their extremely high cost and they literally burn the aboveground foliage but they don't translocate to the roots and actually kill the plant. Multiple applications per growing season are needed because the weed re-grows 1-2 weeks after application. I have had some success by making multiple applications and basically starving the carbohydarate reserves in the roots by not allowing the plant photosynthesize. Its very expensive and labor intensive process that has been too pricey for most clients. Your basically looking at making 4-8 applications per growing season for a small area costing $200-$400 per application...

I haven't found any selective products that are effective and also don't burn or discolor turf. I have not yet tried ADIOS, but I am skeptical.

and I forgot to mention these products have overwhelmingly strong odors. So Strong that you can smell an application from a 1/4 mile away. I have gotten very negative reactions from neighbors/bystanders who assume because of the stench that I'm applying some nasty chemical, but in fact it's organic! This applies to many organic pesticides I've tried also. I have to tell people, don't panic...it's organic! The price, odor and high rates required have made many of these products not a feasible option. Not to mention their results are very questionable.

Hand weeding with the right attitude works, think of it as relaxation therapy. Mowing or brush saws and steam. Here's a link to a steamer product I've heard some tree guys are using.

Glyphosate or roundup if I remember right is basically a salt and it does have a long term buildup. It can be applied directly with a soaked sock over a rubber gloved hand by wiping it on the weeds. I don't like it but I've been spraying it around home. I do like the results.

Hand weeding does work but its not practical for large Natural Lands Restoration projects. We need a cheap effective environmentally friendly tool.
