i've h'eared that Stihl requires saws be sold with low kickback to limit liability. They cut slower. The speed loss is just not in pro-duction, but also reduces the speed-force of how hard you can plot to throw something around or away from you. Just like you can do more tricks with an 020/200 than an Echo whatever; the quicker/cleaner release can give more force to the throw IMLHO.
Safetys are for sticking out of the cutter line as the chain curves around the highest kickback position of the nose curve; making it harder to grab wood and kickback. But, as noted; this limits boring in with the nose bearings, for other 'pro-level tricks' and a different type of safety strategy sometimes.
