Given an opportunity to bid on a lot clearance of approx 1 acre. for a hospital build

No really large trees

Lots of 10-12"

half a dozen that are 18-24"

lots of small stuff mixed in

stumps also

The area can be accessed by clam truck, its all flat , and all the trees can be flopped. We can use a swinger to move the piles to the clam. dump is 2 miles

Is there a general market value of lot clearing?

Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Where are you located? Who does do land clearance and what sort of equipment do they use? That will make a big difference. When I was in Toronto it was priced based on a daily rate. We didn't have to compete with land clearance companies because a 1 acre job was too small for them. But if it's 90 acres then they could go in there and have it done in no time and they brought some heavy duty equipment to the game. No way for us to compete against that.

Brooklyn Park , MN

No land clearing cos around here

There are a few larger removal services with double clam and loader combo , but no one hauls forestry equip in the city here

You have to be able to clear an acre for between $3,500-5,000- here to be competitive. Stumping would be separate, usually the excavating contractor does it for us. There are a good amount of loggers and land clearing cos. here with super efficient equip. so for the most part we steer clear. In western MA btw

Yep that's right in the ball park, if they want stumps it's the same rate times two. I just did a fairly large solar farm land clearing job recently, and priced it at 5000 an acre they took care of the stumps with an excavator, all the logs went to the neighbours, all chips stayed also which was a bonus ! . Not something I'd do on a regular basis! Hard on the equipment and gear! Lots of old trees in a farmers field filled with dirt, barbed wire all running through them! It was a mess!

Heard of a company up in central NH getting 35k for an acre and a half view cut. Horrible access, 18" chipper chipped everything it could on site all wood buried in chips! they did pretty well for themselves! I would do it for the 4-8k range depending if i could sell the wood or chips

Based on the input and the lack of lot clearer co. and only other tree services in the area, I bid the project at 10,500

I'll post if we get it and how it goes.

Thanks everyone-

That's great. My wife actually has family out that way and we are out there every couple months. Nice area.
