Linden Speedline

Recent job - very rarely use a speedline but the tree and the situation lent itself to the technique. We had some issues with tensioning the speedline for the bigger sections near the end which were lowered using regular block rigging to avoid shockloading the speedline. Ran out of batteries for camera near the end so unfortunately missed a few of the last sections.

If anyone has any questions about the job I'd be happy to answer them.

cheers

Hey grov nice vid. How did ya get to make a vid with so much storm work, I guess the opportunity arose and you took it. Thanks for posting. Stay safe Swing.

Cheers for the kind words people,

Easy....the shot at 1.26 involved a huge amount of effort and expense with various types of cameras set up on scaffolding around the tree... glad you noticed it.

Swingdude, it was filmed on a cheap handheld digital camera I had in my jacket pocket (for taking pics of storm damage work) so I just pointed and shot footage when I could.

Still got loads of storm damage work on just now, but getting through it slowly.

Grover,

What did you guys anchor the speedline to on the ground? Seemed like a hedgerow or fence right there. Or did you put something in the ground? Did you have the speedline through a port-a-wrap or just a pulley or carabiner?

Nice work, as always.

Speedline was anchored to fence post which was concreted into the ground, very light loads so no risk of failure at that end. Speedline was through a portawrap at ground level allowing the speedline to be released after each branch meaning I could move the anchor point in the tree around freely to different suitable points.

That was a fun video... looks like that whole top could have been jumped right over the understory tree, with plenty of wide open lawn just 10 feet away.. How are you at throwing tops?

Pretty good, but I need to refine it my technique. I'm actually attending a top throwing seminar in suburban Philly this year, should be good, apparently it's being run by the world's foremost authority on top throwing.

You should try to get along it's in your area.
