Licensed tree expert?

I heard a rumor that tree service companies in New Jersey are now required to have a CTE or licensed tree expert on staff. I looked all over the internet and found nothing to back this rumor. Does anyone know if this is true? And what are the stipulations?
 
There is legislation that was going through the process to require a CTE. No news yet on its standing. I can call someone I know who is up on this or possibly Mark C. knows what's up with it.
 
I was planning on taking either the CTE exam or the certified arborist, but if I'm going to need to be a CTE to run my business anyway I guess that's what I'll do.
Any further info would be great; ie: time frame, who's policing companies, etc.
 
Policing? LMFAO, that is always the shortcoming to all these efforts to regulate industries.

Get the CTE then go for the CA for a competitive advantage. I still have to give Scott a call.
 
The bill was signed into law on the 18th of january.You do not need the full CTE exam there is another test not as hard but you will need to pass that it is called LTCO (licensed tree care operator)also show proof of workers comp ins..Mr. Steve Chisholm has all the answers i will dig out my copy of tree license bill and post more.

Better yet post as much info on NJ's CTE its like a secret society. Trying to find recommend readings and anything else is impossible. Took me a while to just find the app.

With this singed will they start to actually start to do something about CTE's that do shoddy work?? Will we see less illegal immigrants with fake work pappers?? Will this be needed to prune and trim, but take downs guys wont need it????
 
Everybody will need it,about illegals there is no wording in the bill,as of CTE's and shoddy work "you" need to contact the Board of Tree Experts they do investgate CTE's. They don't own anything they have worked long and hard to get where they are today ! THE CLICK as you call it is a long hard test which you earn so if you want to say click thats up to you I say well deserve rank! JMAN PM me I will do my best to get you the info you need.

So you mean now that the bill is passed they will start to investgate???? Cause I know of quite afew that have been brought to attention yet nothing was ever done..????? Maybe now somthings will be adressed?????

It's great to pass laws and everthing but if their is no man power behind it to enforce it whats the point. I happen to do a search on LCTO NJ and it seemed more concerned about how much revenue they would make off of test taking and license fees. Didn't say anything about dedicating man power to investigate poor practice or the non licensed.

Yet they would not pass same sex marrige, go figure. That would of brought alot of money to the state, with no fees for tree police.
 
It's the same problem that OSHA has, we're moving targets that take more resources and time to track down and catch.

In the end it will be at the licensing stage that they will enforce it.
 
Does anyone have the website about the exam or application because all I'm finding is how much revenue it's going to bring in. Lets see, so now I have a contractors license to plant a tree because it's a home improvement, pest license to spray a tree and now I have to get another license. I really hate nj it seems like anything you touch needs a special license along with fee's or tax's. I'm getting tried of paying $100 here $200 here just to pay for state workers pension.
 
Ed i know of two cte's who had the board of tree experts bring action against them.So far as i have heard it will be self policed and i am willing to!I am as mad and upset about the hacks,fly-by-nights,landscapers doing shoddy work taking peoples hard earned money and leaving you and I,(the ones that are doing tree work the proper way)to straighten out the mess they made of the customers property and explain why the they paid for bad service.Thats politics for you always looking at the dollar signs!!
 
HHhhmmmmmm where's FT and his topping crew, Wayen Miller and his ladder and spikes, Kent Desy and his oo just fert it and see what happens then cut it down, so on and so on nothing will be done then, is what your saying. Just money for the state and a quiz about some black pine tree, cuase a piney is a jerseian. So that free dinner in Jackson was for say Aspen to report guys in his hood but screw the rest???????????
