Just curious if any one uses one of these in the tree industry -Kubota SCL 1000 Mini, Stand-On Track Skid Steer Loader

We have tried one a couple times and don’t like it. I like the idea, and I really wanted to like the machine, but the controls aren’t real friendly and it’s not very gentle on the lawns. The tracks and the jerky controls just tore up the ground when we tried it.

Looks like a nice machine.. but looks don’t mean shit..
I thought so too, it looks like a really nice machine. I especially like the design of the controls, with the auxiliary hydraulics buttons right on the loader control stick. It has electronic flow control too, which was nice, but the controls are really stiff and have far too much travel.

Have not used one personally. My dealer wanted to get me into one over the tx1000 wide track. That i was going to trade in.

Some things I noticed. The boom seems to be build well. Also appeared to have a larger radiator. Which would be nice for those continuous flow attachments. Plastic hood looked like it was one cold day away from busting into pieces.
Overall serviceability looked like a nightmare.

I wanted to like the machine as well. Dingos are priced more then the Kubota. Maybe there second design maybe better for treework.

Just my 2 cents

We actually ordered one, waited a month for it, and then drove 2 hours to pick it up because the local Kubota dealer was not large enough to get one.

I think they have the best 36" wide track design on the market and the machine seemed to be quite well designed.
But we used it 2 days, and sent it back. Here is what we didn't like about it.

This is the biggest one - the hydraulic controls for opening and closing the grapple are buttons on the loader joystick, and are electric over hydraulic functions. This makes it impossible to feather the grapple.

They put a large hydraulic pump in this machine, I think 16 gallon, but then they only put a 25 hp engine to power it. It works fine as long as you only use one function at a time. There is no such thing as lifting your loader arms while going up a hill, and forget about opening or closing your grapple yet too!

After trying it out, if they would put a 35 hp motor on it and change the attachment controls, I think it would be a worthy competitor.

I did like the cushions on the loader arms, they made it impossible to slam the loader down.

I’ve never operated or even seen one in person
What I’ve read it looks really nice but what I didn’t like was
It has really wide tracks for the biggest footprint for a 34” wide machine

Sounds good but it also has the least amount of space between the tracks which what I would think that would result of the most turf damage when turning
Also tipsy

Now hearing others experiences confirms my thoughts

Never buy 1st year of any machine let them work out all the details first
Sounds like they have a few things to do

I did order a 1st year sk900 but as far as I was told it’s the same as a sk800 just different engine
