@Mark Chisholm is this OK to post?

Very happy to announce 'pre-sales' sales of the 'KIYARI' chainsaw protection trousers. They are designed and sold in Japan. A lightweight, climber inspired design, European(Class 1) and real world tested. A unique design that are amazing to move in. The narrow bottoms do not interfere with ascenders but are still wide enough to fit over chainsaw boots. The narrow bottom, baggy thigh and high waist make them feel like they are floating, rather than hanging like a dead weight on your hip bones. Please get in touch with questions ‘paul.poynter@maec.jp’ or sales ‘yoriko.sakai@maec.jp

The KIYARI trouser is unique in a few ways, one of which is the FREE size. As you can see from the photographs, they fit a wide variety of body size. I would say from 5ft2” - 6ft. The price in Japanese Yen is 30000.

Steve Connally and Lawrence Schultz have been wearing them, please hit them up for some real world feedback.

Many thanks

Paul

I like the photos of regular people wearing them, instead of the usual 'rawr, tough chainsaw guy!' images usually used in such products. If Steve likes em, I bet they are good. I'm not looking for any new pants at the moment, but will these wind up being sold through US distributers?

(edit: my mistake assuming they weren't tree folks)

Actually, the people in the studio are amazing treemen and women. Chosen to show body size difference but chosen because they are REAL!

Sales will be direct from the KIYARI website.

As I mentioned, connecting the above email address will get you to the right place.

Many thanks

I do like them. Probably my biggest sticking point initially was the lack of pockets. Not for on the job site but in the vehicle traveling around. Usually when I get to the site the wallet and pocket items come out because I don't want that stuff in my pants with a saddle on. Lends itself to pinch points and I hate sweating so bad my money is wet as well as everything in my wallet. So with that being said, I like these pants so much I'd come up with another plan on pocket items. Maybe I can bring back the fanny pack? I think the pockets will be the biggest sticking point for many here in the states but honestly, if you can't look past that I'm not sure what to say. These are the absolute most comfortable pants/chainsaw pants I've worn. The only other thing I own this comfortable is some pajama bottoms. Cool in the heat for sure. Haven't tried them in the cold as I'm pretty cold natured. The leg velcro is on point. The grommet/keeper for the laces is a much better design than other saw pants. (hold pants to boots thingy). No chafing, no bunching, no parts pinching or but crack creeping up. No sawdust gathering in pockets- makes significant other happy! Gotta tell ya guys. I love these and its the first step iin becoming a pocket minimalist!

‘Pocket minimalist’ ha ! I like that. Thank you for such a positive and honest review, Steve.

@Steve Connally if you don’t mind sharing: what size pants do you usually wear? Levi, carhartt etc…… I’m 34x34 in just about everything, and that allows some wiggle room. My concern with a true one size fits all is: either they’re tight, and the elastic lifespan is cut short. or: too loose requiring a belt, and you end up with a crimp of material somewhere in the circumference.

So I suffer from noassatall or old man butt and I'm not overly hippy. I am in the 31/32x34 range. They fit well. maybe just a little loose if anything. I haven't required a belt and the pants I wear a belt with, I take the belt off before I put on my saddle. I hate pinching the belly button skin between a belt buckle and the harness. It hurts like hell. . I could easily toss a pair of thick thermals underneath and not be uncomfortably tight.
