Jabuticaba

That’s an interesting looking tree, and sounds rather delicious! I’m not volunteering to climb it though, I have a feeling it would turn out to be a very sticky mess with all those berries!

I had never heard of this tree before, but would also like to try the fruit. I can think of only one other tree where the fruit grows from the trunk (and very delicious when tree ripened)

Such an amazing tree, we have a number of them growing it took many years to fruit however well worth it looks so cool when they're all growing on the trunks, such a good flavor, have made honey mead with it that we enjoyed and turned out looking like a red wine and a lot of tannins in the skin. Working on propagating and sharing more with our community.

We used to have one when we lived in Hawaii. Mild flavor and pretty tasty but I wouldn’t say they are “amazing”. Really just another fruit. Very neat how they fruit along the trunk which I think gives the fruit some hype. We were always careful to not eat too many of the skins because of the such high tannin content but that was probably a non issue. Another neat fruit to look in to is miracle berry. Those are fun to eat coupled with select other fruits to dramatically change the flavor.
