ITCC finals

Just wanting to post the top 4 for the finals tomorrow

Mark, Strasser, Craus, Frank Chips. Sorry I can't list the girls but there's only 2. So I'll post results tomorrow. They will list results from prelims tomorrow.

The bark is removed for consistency between climbers. There is a set of 'swing dogs' that clamp the chunk of wood to the top of the pole. Each competitor uses a fresh piece of wood, that is installed after the previous person is done cutting.

This event is proposed for inclusion in some future games. Mark demonstrated how a chainsaw event could be included in our format.

We in Nashville wish you all could be here. The climbing competition was very high caliber. The mens Masters Challenge featured 5 climbers, all very smooth. Due to a scoring glitch, Jared Abrojena was a late addition to the field.

This made 5 climbers: Frank Chipps from the Prairie Chapter; Mark Chisholm from New Jersey; reigning champ Beddes Strasser; Dan Kraus of the Pacific Northwest; and Jared Abrojena of the Western Chapter. A huge Tulip Tree made a great course for some fine atheletes.

Mark Chisholm had the tough luck of getting the rope stuck after he returned to the ground from a very nice climb, and timed out.

In the womens Masters Challenge, Christina Spence from New Zealand and Kiah Martin of Australia competed. Fantastic efforts!

Well, off to the ITCC awards ceremony.

And the new men's International Tree Climbing Champion is.... Dan Kraus ! Way to go.

Second place is Beddes Strasser; third is Jared Abrojena, fourth is Mark Chisholm, fifth is Frank Chipps.

Chrissy Spence is the new women's International Tree Climbing champion. Kiah Martin is second.

Thanks to all the judges, technicians & other volunteers. A very fine event.

All five of those guys can run a tree . Jared and Chipps are sure to be future champions. Mark still has game and he sure can pull it off again,(that was the fastest three minutes in tree climbing) , Kraus is just too cool, great climb. Stasser had a real good climb too , he is real smooth ( a fly in the butterfly ) . The best man won . I can't believe how much money I spent just to watch a bunch of guys run around a tree. I had a real good time , I think I had two beers. Congrats Dan .

What a sweet show. Thanks to all the judges, techs., organizers, helpers, and competitors for making it so./forum/images/graemlins/applaudit.gif
It was nice to meet some of you for the first time. Hope to meet more of you in the future.
I've never posted pictures of people without their permission. Is it wrong to do?

Dang, I missed the mid atlantic comp and now the Finals. I wanted to watch them this year. They came and went before I even knew of when they would be. Too bad they are in mid summer when work is so busy. What if they did it in the fall? Probably easier to see competitors with the foliage off and most of us probably aren't quite as busy as mid-summer. Oh well, maybe next year.

I was 5 weeks behind BEFORE I left for Nashville. Now I'm far worse, however, the clients respect what I did, and at the end of the year when someone asks 'whadya do this year?' I got better things to say than 'work'. I also got to meet and get to know a killer group of people, hats off to the guys at the AR event, Greg Good; thanks for the ART mini block, Mahk; thanks for the hank of HRC cord, even got to see Big & Rich, live and in person. It was also great to hook up with the people I met last year, like Scotty Olsen, now there is a high energy guy.

There was one person missing though.....where was Kristain Schultz?

Thanks for the complements. All the planets most have been in line and so many friends were pulling for me, and Mark was kind enough to get his rope stuck.
It’s a dream that started small when I was 24 years old on the big Island of Hawaii. It has shaped so much of my life since then. You don’t know how happy I am to have accomplished my goal, even though the true wealth I got was from everything else, the climbers I’ve meet, the places I’ve seen, and the times spent alone in a park in a tree.
Climb On
Dan Kraus.

Dan (the man), you well earned that buckle! It was a great climb. Beddes was very good as well (as always) but you were flawless. Jarod had a nice climb too, especially considering the prep time he wasn't given. That couldn't have been too easy to overcome. Not one complaint from him either. /forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I was very lucky to have had the opportunity to watch everyones climb except Frank's. It was a treat. Im looking forward to the day where I just watch everyone climb!

Other highlights worth mentioning (sorry if someone else did already)was Frank Chipps breaking his own world record in the footlock! It was 14.3 or.4 and is now 14.1 (I think). I hope that it drops further again next year! Fantastic Frank! And Wenda broke her old world record as well. I didn't see her do it, but I heard that it was spectacular.

It was also great to see the new award this year- the one about displaying true sportsmanship and a good heart. This award was given to Melissa LeVangie! Such a great sight to see. Treebeach (Melissa) is great competitor and an even better person!

You speak good wisdom Dan. The buckle is nice to get, but the true prize is awarded to all who accept it! Each year I gain more and more. I can't wait to see everyone again next year! Thanks to the ISA and all of the volunteers for giving our industry such a great gift! /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I caught the buzz. So i finally decided to post after spending countless hours reading many posts. The "masters climb" was a real treat to watch. Both the women's and the men's division's were great! I learned a great deal and made
some new friends. THis was only the second time attending for me. I plan to attend many more. It was nice to see one man and one rope win...(all are champs)
