I’d like to convert an echo 490 from .325 pitch to 3/8 pitch .050” gauge. Is the 490 suited for this conversion or is it a pain. Can you replace the sprocket rim and bar and call it a day?

Yeah, I’ve been hiding…but I just went to the Penn-Dell symposium and saw Steve Connally and was reinvigorated to get in touch with treebuzz again. BTW Steve is the GOAT. He was a presenter and he knocked it out of the park. I’ve always been impressed with how masterfully he can handle a topic and break it down into bite size pieces. Great to see you too!

I’m thinking it’s not going to be worth swapping to the 3/8 pitch after all. With all the trouble of switching the sprocket, bar…oiler hole position, so on and so forth, I’d be getting less performance out of the cs490, with the only advantage being that I would be simplifying the type of chain reels id need on the shelf.

Don’t think it makes sense. Thanks for all your help. So great to be back on tree buzz.
