Idea for Competition Activity for the whole family

I was thinking that their are a few activities at meets that all kinds of folks can participate in;

Log Sawing
Lowering the log into a target
Knot Tieing

I know their have been more just cant think of them right now.
The idea I had was to have a
Tangled Saw Chain Unkinking Contest. I imagine the participants would have to wear gloves, but getting several, say 42" bar chains and tangleing them really good and then having a contest to see who could straighten theirs out the fastest. The tangles could be counted and the same amount could be put into each chain to make it fair.
It would be a great contest even for experianced tree people. We have all been there struggling with some knotted up chain...
Wadda think?

Re: Idea for Competition Activity for the whole fa

For years I've been bugging people to have a chainsaw toss. Take a whole buch of carcasses without chains on them.
Paint a box on the ground.
The tossor has to stand with feet firmly planted and chuck the saw underhand as far as possible.
Judge grunts as bonus points :)

Who doesn't have a box of junk saws laying around? I used to have the makings of probably a dozen Poulan 25s before I moved.

Barring that, use log chunks and make it into a shot putt type gig.

Do you remember the Log Drop that I had at ISA Seattle and MKE?

Well,....Tom. Nice thought but dont you think their would be bits & pieces of chain saw parts flying around?
You would have to have someone going around and doing the clean up after a show like that....Sounds like fun tho and challenging to 'stick' your throw
