Ice Storm in Oklahoma

I may be heading out that way with a crew and was wondering if there is any word on how things are out there and if the getting is good? I am looking to make some cash to visit the girlfriend and have 3 guys a dump truck and chipper two bucket trucks etc. If anyone is out that way and knows anything or knows another area that would be good to go to that would be awesome.

Forgive me.... I don't see the logic in running across the country to chase storm work. If you are going to be helpful great, but I get the idea everyone is seeing dollar signs, and is hoping to clean house. Can it really be all that profitable? What about your local clientèle?

I have no local clientele I am a college student who does work in my spare time on side jobs right now who is done with finals and is off school till January. So if there is any money to make and help out I would love to be somewhere other than here.

So you are a part timer?

I would assume you carry proper insurance and Workers Comp?

or are you planning on slipping in under the radar, making a quick buck and then getting out of dodge?

Im not trying to be a dik about this, but it irritates me when we get hammered by storms and every uninsured, unqualified hack from out state comes in and undercuts everyones bid which only hurts our local market pricing in the long run.

and Im not implying you are a hack, but if you fall in that uninsured, bid undercutting category then you are no better.

It's hard to just appear there and do well. You really need to know someone in the area to get kicked off.

From what I have heard, there is not alot of big companies in the OK area. must be small local in state guys. Never been to OK but i am willing to travel and work if needed. Lots of crane and removal experience. close by in CO

Well I have a friend who just got out there tonight. And yes I have insurance. We have a family business and run a side policy off of that. That is I have liability and worker's compensation. I am out to gain experience as well and make some money at the same time. I know a lot of people who make good money on storm chasing. I like Enchanted am ISA certified but only as a tree worker right now as I graduate in may from Purdue University with my specialty in arboriculture and urban forestry.

I'd be willing to travel out if I was sure it would be worth-while. Since it's winter, I could probably leave my area.

Likely take the new Palfinger K-boom truck and f550 chip truck and bandit 254 chipper.

Would want to work for a good reputable company that has too many insurance tree work to handle.

Here's a picture of the k-boom truck, f550 and chipper. K-boom truck also can haul many logs, 20ft bed that dumps or is a roll-off.

PM me, or send an e-mail or call Arbor-X Inc at

410 838-2999.

I have found though that there usually is big talk of money on storm damaged areas, but it's not worth an established company to travel to storm work. But if one had a good contact, it could work.
