Husky 540 xp tank vent backflow leak?

Has anyone had issues with their husky tank vents leaking fuel? Two local saw shops have been unable to resolve this issue and because it never happens while they have it, it continues to be a problem. It was put on the computer recently so should be updated. It runs great until this happens.

The tank vent seems to be the source of fuel under the air filter cover staining the air filter. Fuel will also streak along the outside body near handle. The saw will usually act flooded and after some fussing and cussing will work again until the next time. It happened twice today and fortunately I was in the bucket.

Why would fuel backflow out the tank vent tube? Faulty tube? Faulty vent? Too much pressure in fuel tank? I will look again this weekend but any suggestions are appreciated.

The older 540’s had an issue with the vent and it’s a dealer fix.they would fix it free as a warranty issue. I think they resolved the problem on the newer saws. There some guys on here that probably know more about this than I do. Or ask on the ope forum

Supposedly...mine was a nightmare to get the warranty work done, still doesn’t work.

I had 2 of mine done. No problems. I’m coming to appreciate my local saw shop more and more after reading about all the difficulties people on this forum have with theirs
