Husky 3120

Bought one last month or so and it's the XP model, don't know if it is different from older ones. Doesn't look any different. I live in Ontario, Canada.

Picked up one off of Ebay, it's only a stumper, and large stem dropper. 36" 42" and 60" came with it.

I have the Euro model Chris....apparently much less of a rev limiter on it than the American model, which having heard a new one one sounds very sluggish.

I went one better again this week and had it modded at a specialist here in Victoria: http://www.walkerpowerequipment.com/

Boy you want to feel the response and torque on that sucker now. This is the 3rd saw they've done for me along with the 390 and 201....changes the game altogether. Delighted with the service and result. They get lots of stuff sent from the US and Europe, so if you do get stuck with the new model then all is not lost whether you have Donny or someone of similar time-served to carry out the work.

Nice MUF MOD!! how much for the muff, how things in BC? Hope your takin it easy on them out there!

Muffler, ignition timing and cylinder porting is about $175 or less I believe. Cost off mine is tied in with other things so I couldn't tell you exactly.

I'm ok Ricky, thanks for asking. As a sub-contractor its either feast of famine out here....they either all want you at the same time or not at all. This week is quiet so I'll make the most of the rest and eat well....I get many huge days of intense climbing start to finish.

the older the 3120 the higher the rpm limiter is in them, the new 3120's here now with the green coil is the lowest rpms 3120 made , at around 10,000 rpms , lots of the older 3120's are at 11,700 or so rpms , they have a black coil and different flywheel but can bolt right into the new 3120

Hey Ed!! Dennis Greffard ported mine over 10 years ago now. It's prolly an appx 1990's model. Full woods port, It was the first one he did, but he used Ken Dunn's numbers. Lakeside Andy honed it and added a set of rings a couple years ago. It may now be ciose to where it was, which may well have been around 13 horsepower.

I still have a few saws that you did for me..but the Dolmar 5100S, which may have been the first or second to be woods ported, was stolen, as was the near race 372 that you did for New York Ken. He sold me another 372, and 357 both ehp's, and a 200T--which was also stolen. The little prick pleaded guilty, and apparently did some jail time, plus has to pay restitution, which he will find out about at the sentencing...I included the porting values in his debt...which will be $2700....who knows if he will ever pay up.

Reg, I don't think Donny does full woods porting for that price. Walker's never did. I had a couple of their saws, which were fine, but not quite like the full deal, which is decking the cylinder to improve compression, and reduce squish, widening the ports for more flow, and enlarging them a bit for increased port opening duration, which includes working the transfer ports as well, and sometimes a bit of piston work.

No, I think he just widens the ports at that cost, but will keep going if its what you really want.

I hope we get to work together soon....As a present, I may even donate my 45 cc ehp 346 to ya. It hurts me to see you up there in 14-20" wood with that 390.

That said, someday, I'll get a 390 and have it massaged by one of the current top builders.....then I'll have no need for my dual port but otherwise stock 660....

Dunno when I'l find the time to edit the images and vid's from that leaning oak we did Monday. It was easy-ish, and fun, but, as I brought in a third crewmate, I was free to shoot like crazy...and I did, prolly close to 15-20 gig of stuff with both SLR's...

Enjoy the heat this weekend! I may go to the rain forest and ocean, and shoot pics, maybe climb a tree, or stay and watch and shoot Seafair, or chase some more birds...

Now if I could find some unfeathered two legged birds, I'd be in like Flynn...

Nice MUF MOD!!

Actually, not so nice...but a bit better than my 3120 which has two even larger ports facing directly forward. They will damn near catch the bark of a pitchy tree on fire....and perhaps cause some backpressure. There is no need for the tubes; a side port hole with a deflector, such as the one available for old Husky 288's, is best.

. Mine are angled, and the popular choice out here. I'll get some video. Enjoy the birds.

I know, Reg, angled is a bit better...I had a Walkerized 372 years ago.

Hey, ya bum, if you don't like drama, come down here and whack me up side da head. might do me some good!

By the way, do you know Scott Nyuli? He's having a cool gathering Sep 1 weekend on Salt Spring Island. I'm gonna try to make it. You should too. Lots of arbos are coming.

Here's momma osprey feeding the yet to fly chick (at least I don't think so). The other fledged a few days ago. shot this yesterday

I had a couple saws stolen as well but never heard where they ended up , if guys are looking at real good worksaws then stuff like the new 365xt ported is very good , alot of torque is made from that motor , ya the 372 xt is the same engine but why pay the extra $150 or more bucks when the plate on the doors only takes 5 minutes to grind out . I really like my 550 and 562 husky as well , my 562 just flat out hauls . I have not ported my 550 yet as I'm just breaking it in but it will be shortly

No Rog I dont think I've ever heard that name before. I've worked on Mayne and Piers, but not Saltspring.

Has that image been zoomed and cropped on the pc? lacking some clarity by your normal standards.
