I agree that Human makes a deliberate effort not to let pride getting in way of a good video, but there is a certain foolhardiness to what he does that basically implies ‘It is part of the job for this to happen’ and that is true when learning, but the idea is that you train and learn and put that learning into practice to be safe for you and others and become more professional every day. We all make mistakes but we should be wary of allowing haphazardness regularly into our approach. I have seen many climbers pulled out of trees by bosses for carelessness, and have heard of tops landing on roofs because of same.

Like no sleep and feeling impaired? Sure if a boss pushes you up, boss should be assisting to manage the situation to counter impairment to make the best of a bad situation. But if there is no one with authority managing the DZ and regular communication going with groundys going on, then there is a high probability something will go wrong. Communication and planning could be happening off camera, but I am not so sure it is...

I caught wind of this and disabled the video on here? Do I have some kind of intelligence agency at my disposal or something? Or could it be that I was at odds with my employer and didn't want him to have the ability to post the video to his website so I disabled embedding.

No, I'm not on any illegal drugs. Paul, are you a doctor that can evaluate somebodies addiction just off of some bullshit youtube video they made? What kind of idiotic reasoning are you using? The only thing I take is the one medication that's prescribed to me. I'm just looking for an atta'boy? How about, doing a few years in prison makes you appreciate what you have and I'm willing to work hard to get what I want. Doing the youtube thing takes around 20 hours a week, don't think it's not work. I could give a shit less what you think I'm doing it for, the fact is I'm doing it because I get fucking paid for it.

I appreciate those that have suggested giving feedback instead of just bashing. I'm far from the greatest climber out there, and never have I claimed to be anything extraordinary. I've no formal education in climbing, and learned in an incredibly cut throat region where getting shit done quickly is always the top priority. I've much to learn, and appreciate all that's been taught to me so far, and all that will be.

After all that, I've a full time job, weekend side jobs, a job doing the youtube thing, a house that's falling apart, a truck that's falling apart, a girlfriend that is a huge pain in my ass, saws and gear to maintenance, etc.... So I won't be back, this is my one post. I'm getting back to living my life and enjoying it. If talking shit on a screen is what makes you happy, feel free to continue.

Hi Human, glad to see you chime in and clarify, as many of the posts are speculative and glad you can set things straight as speculation makes these forums discussions very long...

Also glad to hear you suffering the same things many of us here (sorry to hear about the girlfriend bit as that is the one thing that usually makes a lot of the other stuff insignificant when going well...).

As far as critiques go that’s what you get on these forums launched by your brave release of those near miss videos. As said in prior comments you are admired for putting videos out there despite what happens (fearful pride doesn’t have a hold on you) and your are respected for your tenacity despite your ordeals. You are also respected for those things that take on, and the effort you put into producing videos for the web.

But at the same time any video marketed as professional Arborist video will be dissected as it should be, and positive and negative input given, as you would expect whether you launch on YouTube or Forums. This is for learning purposes but also warning to other would be arborists - as it should be in any training environment.

I would not take personally but as feedback on the videos - there is a difference. Opinions on your attitude you should dismiss if you disagree, or contemplate if they have some validity - but not publicly unless you feel you have been unfairly slighted in a manner that you feel needs correction.

Your ordeals will no doubt make you stronger if you can overcome them long enough for times to get better - which I am hoping and praying that they do.

In spite of the nature of this thread, if you stick around, I think you will like it here. There are a lot of good and knowledgeable people on this forum with which to exchange ideas. Hi Samsquatch, the thread is not defined by the OP. Everyone has veto power, and everyone can make positive and negative comments as is a community. We do not indiscriminately come under the OP as ‘the leader’ and this is a community engagement forum.

As for @Samsquanch I will not even take your bait. I want to point out that many prescription drugs are some very dangerous drugs. @Human this is not directed at you. Let us be clear. People automatically think with the mention of drugs we are talking illegal. This is 2019 not 1901. But in the tree industry drugs both legal and illegal are a huge problem. What one does on their own time is their biz but on a crew one's choices automatically have consequences and affect others. This is a serious thing.

Welcome to the shit sandwich that is life folks. Good things comes easy to some, but others (myself included) have to fight and claw for every inch of gain. Fucked up parenting, shitty childhoods, drugs & alcohol, troubles with the law, physical and mental illness, injuries, the never ending rules and regs of modern life, assholes and idiots behind every tree, ect, ect, ect. Its all laying the weeds, waiting to fuck with us, beat us down, and chew us up and spit us out. Some of us are better wired to deal with all this bullshit and some of us ain't. I myself would not be alive if it wasn't for a profound singular moment in my life which saved me from a very long stretch or an early grave.
I place a high value on toughness, tenacity, and honesty and Corey has that shit in spades. Nobody is getting out of here alive so its best if we try and enjoy the triumps and tribulations, keep fighting the fight, and go get us some.

As for dude's videos they are just a part of the Internet information bank now. And I think all would agree, there is no such thing as information that has no value.
 
@rico agree with what you said. I am in no way kicking dirt at Corey. I make that clear. Man is tough. And loves treeing. I was a bit harsh with the impaired drug talk. I have apologised and moving on. His cuts still need work and that will get better hopefully.

A preface to say that you've made poor judgments in the past, leading to hospitalization, and could have been fatal, and have endangered other people, is a good preface, so nobody thinks its a way to be. Not a dime until you get 4000 watch hrs/yr and 1000 subs. That's no easy feat unless you got a couple viral vids up your sleeve. Like falling out of a tree on video, that'll generate subs, or spanking a spar down on someone's head, that'll generate views...

I'm working my way up on this, but don't have anything viral-worthy.
