How to locate a contract climber.

Ive had no luck with job postings and I’m wondering how I can hire a contract climber in SE Michigan. Can anyone give me a point in the tight direction? Is there a group or list i can access?

Yeah, there's ONE contract climber in our area that isn't a drug head. That's it. There may be others I don't know. Everybody else that climbs and doesn't have a drug problem works at a tree service. It kinda leads to an interesting dynamic. Due to this, a lot of the good tree services in our area help each other out when more climbing help is needed.

I have to add to this. The last time a friend of mine tried to get a contract climber, not the guy I mentioned that was drug free, it was a cluster. The guy shows up in a car that had obviously been wrecked, hard. Proceeds to tell us he needs to leave extra early because said car won't go more than 35 due to the bad wheel bearing. Has climbing boots but no other gear. Begs and borrows enough stuff to get climbing. Keeps bullshitting the crew about not knowing how to climb, etc. None of us know the guy. Starts complaining about tree spikes he's using because he wanted pole spikes to climb a pine tree. Didn't ask before for pole spikes. We had some. Goes up with to short of a rope for the ground crew to set pieces down all the way from where the guy felt the need to set the block all the way at the top. Wouldn't communicate with the ground crew about what he was tied to or how many wraps. One got burned fingers through the gloves because he put a piece on rope but didn't give them time to wrap off on the portawrap. The piece was a bit big to hold by hand. Got most of the limbs stripped then sudden had an appointment he had to leave even earlier for. No called and no showed the next day. Oh darn. My buddy actually paid him before he left.
