How in sam hill....

What did you do? Tie in with your tail and pull yourself back? What a bummer. It's funny how a little thing can create such an issue.

I've had one accidental clove hitch wrap around a branch. Couldn't figure that one out. How did that tail tuck? And I've had too many figure eights somehow show up at the end of the climbing line?

how......how did you do that? That's really something, right there! Now if you can figure out how to do it again, and then come up with a use for such a configuration, we can all start pretending that it was intentional and a new revolutionary new technique.

once had the tail of my rope tie a perfect bowline on a branch below me as I was descending, had to recrotch and continue down just to figure out what happened!

I think that one takes the cake!

So what do we take from all this? Knots can mysteriously tie themselves. And now I'm beginning understand how some of these knots might have been discovered.

Its the 'Rope Gremlins' dude. Those little bastards tick me off to no end. The only thing worse are "throw line mites". They are very tiny and almost impossible to see unless you shake them off on a piece of paper. I hate those lil SOB's worse that that Murphy guy who is always fouling up things up for me.
