How high can you throw ball?

When you say double bag... 2 bags on one end, one bag on each end, or 2 sperate bags on independent lines worked together to get your desired location?
Throw thru intended target and it usually will fall threw several other limbs. Let ball go to ground, then attach second ball and line (2 balls, two lines). Pull up and manipulate to isolate desired crotch.

Double bagging is usually sending another weight and line up on the end of the first one you threw. The second weight and line get pulled up past the desired branch then dropped over, pulling both lines down. The first swings the second into the right spot which is great if your first throw was not perfect, but close.
Double posted about double bagging. Lol.

How long of a pendulum do you like? I'm fairly short, so it is a limiting factor for pendulum length.
Grazing the grass. Every inch you can get adds to the lever and makes the height easier.
I'm a one-hander and I'm pretty good to around 70 and above 35. Low shots are hard. Higher than that is luck. I can toss it 100, just not accurately. If it's really high, I'll take a bight through the ring like granny tossers and hold that as well for more traction on the line. It lets me put a lot more oomph in it without skidding the line through my fingers prematurely.

I said piss on that shit years ago. I work for money not ribbons. I don't bang up the rope like its a 50 yard dash, and my lazer guided APTA can hit anything I can see, normally on the first shot.

I'm with DSMc on this one. I can usually hit crotches from 100-150ft pretty easily with my trusty APTA, but ask me to hit a 40 ft crotch by hand and your likely to see me have a fucking hissy fit and start breaking shit after 8-9 tries. Long live the APTA!!!

I work for ribbons and money. Not a day goes by I don't make bank...and I am hand throwing so there...island life slow and dead stop....lol

I'd be done with this work if I hadn't started competing. Not dying and getting the tree down stopped being exciting a few years ago. Knowing that there are guys who are so much better than me and having a way to try and measure up to them has kept it interesting.
If I ever blow ITCC away (yeah, right) I'll probably find something else to do with my life.

If you look like a gay baboon ballerina doing it, it's not worth doing. Under 40' I can usually hit a usable crotch... not the one I was aiming at, but still.. anything higher, it starts looking like a really bad Charlie Chaplin movie.

Long live the APTA !!!

I won't risk my shoulder on high throws. I'll get the APTA out past 60'. Generally, with moss and all, I'll throw a 12oz.

Rec climbers can pack up and go home if they 'pull' something.
Rec climbers aren't on a time schedule. I use a bigshot. I personally kinda suck handthrowing. I seen guys waste a lot of time because they refuse to use the bigshot. I use a bulldog bone, foot ascenders etc, use the best tool for the job, so why not just get the rope up quickly and be done. It irritates me when I got a climber throwing the throwball all over the place and I am already heading up the line Now for all you that can hit those high hard shots in under 3 tries more power to you, but most cant and it becomes a fiasco.

If that is all true, I find it a sad thing. I have been climbing for over 50 years and still enjoy the simple beauty of what we do. I certainly am not the best or fastest, never was, and I could care less how I measure up to other climbers. What I do matters to me and that is enough.

Every day is different, every tree is different.

Part I don't get, now days people show up on the jobsite with 3 bags full of climbing gadgets to do the same thing, a dozen different ways but refuse to use a bigshot or like devise, why? This conversation is akin to discussing why not climb ddr on a tauntline hitch, in a weaver leather saddle wearing highliners. I take that last one back, highliners still rock.

For high shots, I use the bigshot when working. If a person is good with a throwball, medium to low shots are one or two throws, there for more efficient. If I have to throw it more than 3 times, I should have gotten the slingshot. I think low shots are kind of hard with the slingshot. But the main reason I am working on hand throwing skills is to compete. For fun.
