Hitch Hiker and Removals

Jack. My thinking is quicklink to panic snap on the left Dee. When necessary clip you're lanyard to the PS. If you need to get out the left hand releases with a simple pull

Something to think about, Nick, when you have a panic release; you DO NOT want to be connected to anything that might possibly get hung-up in the hazard. My thought in a Bail-Out-Kit is to completely disconnect from anything fastened to the hazard. That is, release the whole lanyard and swing away to a planned and tested escape path.

In other words, having a snap or q-link catch in a crotch; or having the end of a lanyard 'bola' around a falling hazard can be just as deadly as being hard lanyarded in to it. IMHO

Good point!

I Still like the idea of using it attached to your standard lanyard, maybe connecting the adjuster with a panic snap on the right and then clipping into another on the left.

That would give you an ambidextrous release option with a back up if you get FUBAR'd with the released end getting snagged.

Only the prototype HH on PI, not the new and improved.

What is great about the HH on removals is the ability to have fall protection by choking around the stem up and down the tree, then being able to change over to DdRt at any time, to lower off of a crotch when you're needing to do so.
