Hitch and rope twist

I generally run a VT variant everywhere but got lazy and used a vt with no braids, or maybe 1/2 a braid. I'm sure it has a name but I'm too lazy to look it up. Point of the story is that I was using it with the Arbscender as a winch to hoist bundles of shingles and lowering the plywood platform via the hitch. Before I knew it my tachyon had developed multiple rotations worth of twist. I know a long long time ago in a forum post far away forgotten, hitches twisting ropes was discussed. Well, I'm too lazy to dig that up. And my twist occurred with light weight slippage and only 70 lbs lockup so its different anyway, My braided VT's never put twists in, at least significant enough to notice. The Arbscender basically has a clone of the Wraptor sheave but more compact, so should be no twisting there.

So does anyone have anecdotes or info about hitches putting twists in lines, to help me solve this mystery? Could the braids really be that important? The only other component was a rollgliss blue pulley at the rigging tip which should also be a non factor.

The hitch is the French, or Italian Prusik if it crosses only once in the back. The polypropylene in the rope might be the cause of the twisting.

ice tail for the hitch - there's polypropylene in tachyon? I thought it was polyester/nylon?

There is also polypropylene in the center of each cover strand, it’s light and water proof, but not as strong, which gives it the Tachyon a lower break strength than other size ropes.

I get twists every time with a french prussic, regardless of rope type or construction. I usually just end up switching the diretion of my wraps like on a portawrap when I run a hitch, but I've been using mechanicals for so long, I forgot I ever had to deal with that problem

Brocky, so you're saying inside the green and blue (polyester) cover fiber bundles there's polypropylene strands too? White braided core is nylon I presume, few "manufacturer marker strands" 8:00 in vid are insignificant, and purple core strands are I don't know what.

I tried my darnedest to see different fibers in my old orange and blue cover, but just couldn't find them. Pic? or how can I see this?

After doing some surfing, there appears to have been a change, a lot of different break strengths from vendors, Teufelberger has 5500 lbs., some of the larger vendors say 7100 lbs. It also is now heavier, maybe dropped the polypropylene. I’ve only spliced it once for someone, must have been the first version. Rubbing the strand end should allow you to feel the stiff, fishline like poly strands, if they’re there.

That is same gap between ArboPlex w/filler fibers and TrueBlue full bull no fillers.
Rubbing the strand end should allow you to feel the stiff, fishline like poly strands, if they’re there.
And they are first breakers, giving rougher feel in real use.
.
Some hitches w/o countering turns seem to twist host more.
But, all seem to act as a comb, chasing out existing rope twists
>>so whether pre-existing twists in rope or not is a variable.

My rope is from when New England Ropes was still New England ropes, how ever many years ago that was. Eye splice on one end, melted on the other. But there's a nicked cover bundle I can check. Will do.

Two Full Burger s, please. :)
