Groundie saw

Stihl 440 with a Maxflow filter, an opened up muffler and 24" bar.

I like lighter saws for general ground work but for bucking bigger wood the 440 is light and ripping fast.

If your getting into the 70cc plus class saws, dont forget the Dolmar 7900, walks all over the 70-79cc saws in the class.
Only catch make sure you have good dealer support for parts if needed and if you dont work on your own saws.

"I'm surprised you hire groundies you can't trust with a nice saw! Make no mistake, without pro groundies, you aren't doing pro work."

True that!

Any thoughts on the 346xp or the MS 260 anyone?

My primary ground saw is an 026 Pro. Damn good light saw. Put a 16" Windsor bar and some Wooland Pro chain on and it cuts hardwood like a demon. Not enough horsies for bucking big wood though, that's what the 440's for.

the 260 is a good saw but for me i would much rather have a 346xp.the 346xp will definitly be my next saw.

So if you were me would you ad the 346 or the 357?

I've used both for years. If I were to purchase a 45-50cc saw, it would be a 346XP, 18" with Oregon 95VP chain. The anti-vibe on the 346 is superior, it cuts faster and is quieter than the MS260 Pro. They are both "professional" saws.

I like this one on the ground, but some guys here can use it in the tree!

echo saws are sweet. i just bought an echo climbsaw and that thing is awsome. it's no 200T but it is definitely not a toy. echo seems to be getting better about making their saws. for instance i like the metal on off switch rather then the plastic ones found on even some of the pro saws out there.

Blinky says it best.
I contract most of my work these days and the guy I always insist on having gets 460. About 8-10 jobs thus far and only minor touch ups on the chain. He is the tops and treats the equipment like his own.

Cuttenwolf - monmouth county huh? what township? spent lots of time there, my wife went to Manasquan high, grew up in spring lake heights.
