got the heart racing

have you ever had to fell a tree where you have to do a bore cut behind the the scarf before you do the backcut due to a massive lean or abnormality in the tree?
done it a few times before but this tree really needed it!over 30 meters tall,1m dch, huge lean and nasty cavity where you wanted to scarf it.
this tree really would of exploded doing the backcut if felled in the normal manner
heres the tree (with yellow cross)

surprised it took the golf course that long to get rid of the tree.
only reason i posted this is because i learnt this scarf off a professional logger who has logged forover 40 years.
he charges fairly hefty prices to show you what he knows but it is well worth it.
just emphisises how important training and education is in this industry.

Good job on tree work ... Looks from one of your pic that your worker on the chipper is using his leg to feed the chipper?

congrats guys you passed this weeks awareness test.bicycle riders will love to share the road with you guys!
in all seriousness its a bad performance from our groundie.he's got 7-8 years experience as a groundie but worst of all is he suposed to be showing the guy in the blue shirt how to do things as it was his first week in the industry.
thanks for bringing it up

In reference to the bore cut, I do this on almost every tree that I cut down. I like being able to get the notch set just how I want it, take a look around, set my wedges and then pull the trigger.

Bone-head move kicking brush into the chipper though. You should run one of his feet through just to show what it feels like. that'd learn 'em good.

I never understood chipping (or tree work in general) in shorts either.
