Going ot Oregon....anyone out there?

This summer I'm going on an internship with Bailey's Nursery in Yamhill, OR. I'm really exited, I've lived in NC my whole life and I can't wait to get out there and see some parts of creation I've never seen!
What I was wondering is if there's anyone around that area who could show my some fun climbs. I would love to climb with some guys out there. Get some experience too. Currently I'm a student on a different internship but I climb ALOT ( or A LOT). I would love to pick up some memories climbing in Oregon.

Also, have you guys ever put all your gear on a plane? I'm just a little worried about that.

Hi Jason,

I'm not much of a climber so other than my own trees I don't know of too many fun climbs, but I may be able to help you contact a few people who can help. I'm less than an hour north of Yamhill. I can provide you with a number of fun/unique ground based destinations.

that'd be awesome. i just want to see oregon!

i would even have a blast in your trees, i just wanna climb something on the west side.

With the airlines weight limit of two 50# bags you will probably find it cheaper to ship most of your gear ahead of you. I've flown with climbing gear and it can get a bit dicey. Of course, nothing in carry-on but handsaws, biners and throwbags really look interesting in the x-ray machines.

New Tribe is in SW Oregon. Be sure to get in touch with them too.

This is a small tree just west of the desert on hwy 22 i believe.

I live in Oregon. If you want big trees, there's plenty, and you won't have to drive far. Get a hold of me when you get out here, and I'll point you in a few directions.

Oregon hosts Recreational Tree Climbing Rendezvous

Hey Buzzers,

My crew and I are looking forward to gathering together in the tall old-growth trees in Oregon this September. The hosts at newtribe have posted this:

Final plans soon to come

Thanks to all who've contacted New Tribe about the 2005 Rendezvous! We are excited too, and pushing hard to make the plans complete.

We have a to-die-for site in the plans, all we are waiting for is the final thumbs-up on our permit application with the USFS.

Proposed new dates are SEPTEMBER FULL MOON WEEK, roughly Sept 14 - 19.

Watch here and at newtribe.com for full details.

Ever upward,

Sophia
