Gear question

This may be in the wrong location, I will go ahead and apologize. I just received a saddle that I ordered. It is a buckingham ergolite, the suspension bridge does not come with any ring. Can you clip a carabiner directly on the bridge or is that notrecommended.

Thanks for the answers

Your question has me concerned though? Are you a home owner attempting to do it yourself? Or are you just starting as a recreation climber?

Petal Ring Open.

Petzl Ring Open

I been doing line clearance for about three years, just been using older style equiptment.
So then yes, if you want there are other attachment options and you can use 2 biners with gates opposing as additional safety. The bridge is there to be attached to. You can Also use things like daisy chains girth hitched directly to the bridge. Gives even more attachment options.

You can also connect a wirecore flipline to it with biners. Just never assume an auto locking biner is locked, physically check and be sure. Inspect your bridge before each use to make sure it’s attached and in good condition. New does not mean safe! Mistakes are made, never assume with critical life equipment.

It's basically already been answered. But just to clarify the ring on the bridge is there for orientation purposes. Many climbing tools will sit at a 90° when carabinered straight to the bridge. That will not stop them from functioning, it just looks different. Also a thicker ring, or pulley will help extend the life of your bridge with the larger bend radius.

Google Rook, it’s a pulley/swivel/3 hole rigging plate combined. Solves the bend radius issue, organizes attachments and keeps stuff from twisting. Needs to be on a rope bridge rather than webbing but might be an option. Notch makes a clone of it too.

I’d get the petzel catalog. It’s got everything you need except specialized products they don’t make.

Rope bridges see a lot of repetitive action over a small span. I would not put a biner on a bridge unless it was fairly necessary. Most of them have rough edges that will repeatedly abraid and pick the short section of rope. Additionally, it increases the capacity to load the gate, and/or rotate the locking mechanism - one more piece of complexity. Rings are standard and very simple. So is the abr radius, which is compact and has a big bend radius. The rook gets mixed reviews - usually due to their long length (bad), bulky volume and weight (bad), big bend radius (good), swivel action (good), multiple attachment points to simultaneously use multiple climbing systems (good), and smooth pulley action (good). Girth hitching a sling to the bridge is likewise better as a temporary measure due to repetitive friction on the same small length of rope, plus the loss of the intended functionality of the bridge as a work positioning assist. The petzl ring is attachable, but you'll need to inspect the screws regularly. Good luck, be safe, replace your bridge as appropriate and replace it correctly.

As such they should be inspected before every use and replaced when wear is evident! None of my biners are jagged, And I simply wont use a non triple locking biner. The ring is nicer if you can install them on the bridge without having the gated ring, that seems akin to having a maybe locking biner? I dont like that concept, a rubber washer being responsible for my life!

Just install a 40mm DMM ring. It is protocal...screw a ring open...llike it for certain things...cannot recall right now but a bridge is not one of them...Stephen it is an aluminium spacer.

Doesn’t the screw that holds the spacer in place have a rubber friction washer?

Yes.. to keep moisture out, not serve as the locking mechanism. They rely on thread locker (blue) to keep the screw from coming out.
