Frustrated with kernmaster

I've broken 3 fids trying to splice this demon rope and I am fed up. I am unable to tuck the core back into the cover because of how tight it is. Do I need to taper the core more? Lube it more? WTF?

I should say that I've already scanned other kernmaster threads and know that the core should be tucked further into the cover and requires more taper. But it is still a bitch and a half. Please help with any tips you may Have

I just finished my first kernmaster splice and was coming on to post a picture when I saw your post! removing the core was the toughest part for me. my first attempt tucking the core was with a wire fid and I took nicks advice and did a super long taper. with the long taper it was a little tough but possible with the wire fid. my second attempt I made a soft fid and still did a long taper and wow was a breeze it was!

Cool, good job! What's a soft fid? Throw line? I can get the core out just fine, but I guess my core taper could be much longer and measured.

for my soft fid I just used a small piece of hollow braid rope. just run it through where u want the core and leave a long tail, then run the core through the soft fid like you would the jacket into the core on a DB splice. make sure the majority of your taper is inside the soft fid to prevent the core from slipping out of the fid.

Damn! Clever splicing. Fucking complicated... So you're pulling the core tuck into the cover with an alien hollow braid? Which you pull out once the tuck is done and where you like?

yeah the hollow braid just takes the place of your wire fid
