Hey buzzers, I need an all round block, pulley or ring. Dont know what to get. I need something that can work from 11mm -14mm rope. Its mainly for light to medium rigging. Do i go abr ring, pinto , or omni? Which size or any other options?

Can't go wrong with the OmniBlock 2.6" pulley.

The rigging rings are also very nice.

That sure is a sexy block, the 2.6 is what im leaning towards. The only biners i use are from Rock Exotica and i love em.
With the rigging rings do you ever find you are limited by not being able to attach rope mid line?
I will probably end up buying all three eventually any way just wanted to know which option can do everything for now.

The midline Omni is the best block there is. The swivel always lines up the line angle so there is no guessing about added friction from that. Midline attachable without the chance of dropping it. I can't say enough good things. Mine have taken serious beatings.

I know it says 13mm rope only on the side of the 2.6, do you reckon you could squeeze a 14mm through it without to many dramas?

A lot of guys are using 9/16"/14mm rope in them... in one of Rock Exotica's ads and in some of the product release pics they show it being used with Atlas, which is 9/16" so I guess it's ok. I've been meaning to try it with the Atlas, as I have a hank of it around here someplace. Somebody mentioned that it's a little closer to the sideplates, so you have to watch that you don't let things get too sideways with it.

I was going to get the isc mini, but got the omni on a trade. Either seem great for climbing and most rigging

Nope. Love 'em. My preferance would be x rigging rings but that's just me. I don't use whoopies or loopies but I tie knots like ridiculously fast. But I never take the rope out of a sling, I just move the sling. Unless I'm done using it.
But if you lift stuff a lot I'd just go pulley to start

We have an old block at work that i think is cmi. Its looks the same but i hate how opening it you now have the bolt and spacer as two separate parts to drop with wet gloves in the snow...

I have the 1.5 omni on a loopy and use it in almost every climb that needs roped. It's really light, easy to set up/move around, can take a beating, and hangs from my saddle in a ditty bag while I'm climbing. http://www.treestuff.com/store/catalog.asp?item=12399I got this ESA block when they came back in stock and have been pretty pleased with it. It's 3/4 capacity for the price of most 5/8th blocks. The spring lock is really easy to use with gloves on too. It's big though and with a sling it's huge and heavy. I only use it for blocking down large wood or for use with lifting with the stein. I also have a zinc plated 3/4'' CMI block. The cmi is actually much smaller than the ESA but just as heavy. If you have 3/4" rope I'd get the bigger block. I was warned about using to large a diameter rope on a block not made for it. If your brushing trees out and have something for the bigger wood I'd say get the omni. Out of my three blocks the omni is where it's at.

While my CMI is go to for big wood, I don't like the opening mechanism - I try to reserve it for bucket work. That's why Omni is go to the majority of the time.
