Facebook

I have an ad on facebook and received the following message from someone interested in an estimate:

"Hi, I saw your post on FB. I've got some major tree issues in my back yard in Radford. Do you do free estimates? I'm looking for a no-bullshit quote on some semi-wooded and sloped back yard ground."

Seems like a rude way to ask for help. How would you respond?

Doesn't seem that bad to me. Sounds like they are straight to the point and want a realistic bid. You have two choices... follow up or don't. I always follow up if it is within my travel area. Sometimes I just straight up tell them I'm not interested or shoot the breeze and feel out the situation. Possibly break the job up into stages if it is really big.

My wife set it up for me so I will have to ask her. But I believe it is similar to adwords where you can budget how much you want to spend per day.

Ask for specifics in advance, and to have trees marked with flagging in advance, for a no B S bid-giving experience.

Ask for goals, acceptable impact levels, material processing needs, etc, before going to the bid.

Clarify what a bid versus consultation is, and how much advice a bid contains.

It's really rude. You know, if he wanted to use your services he would ask in another manner, I'm sure. So, it's up to you to respond to his message or not. However, the fact that he didn't give any feedback after your response, demonstrates that he was not seriously interested. Anyway, maybe that guy was not in his best mood, who knows. Still, when I text an unknown person, I always use a fake account

That pretty much sums it up for FB.. I’ve had a few ads, help wanted and just basic promotion. It’s all been a waste of time and money. I’ll still run a promotion from time to time, but not advertising my services. The goal is to just to aid in business name recognition
