Some rigging involved.

This is a varegated sycamore grafted onto to common roots.

Two large limbs failed in the past and decaying at both points. Careful rigging required. I post this mostly as I think you'll like the setting....

Wow Rupe, now that's a beautiful view!

We don't get a chance to work around buildings like that here too often, or at least I don't.

So what was the plan, use the central leader as your main lowering point and redirect the brush out towards the middle?

How did the job go?

Yep, all the brush was leaning out to one side, cos the rest of the crown had fallen off years ago.

It was twisting in the wind, and not nice feeling at all. I cleared the centre and the top first to get some weight off and it felt batter after that. Then cleared the one limb to the side away from the buildings, then the rest of other top stem. All went well, got to finish it tomorrow and chip up. All the brush got taken on trailer out of the garden and stacked to the side of the house where I can get my chip truck to it.

I'll show you the real view.......

Who's place is that: Sean Connery? Judy Dench???

BTW: you guys across the pond mean Acer pseudoplatanus when you say Sycamore, right? I've never seen a varigated one get that big!

Great photos!

No, I don't need to bid, they are one of my best long term customers. I do what is required and send in the invoice. They own approx 5,000 trees, they don't want to gets quotes (bids) for every job.

I'm lucky to be engaged as their arborist, we have a good trusting relationship, I charge my average day rate but I never need to take any debris away so I just do tree work and get paid. Perfect!

We have other famouse people here too!! Actually it pains me to say it but the owner is American, her children and grandchildren all live here and regular guests would be the Liz Hurley's and Damian Hurst types and that age group.

Yes Acer pseudoplatanus, shame I don't have a pic of it in leaf as it was the biggest I've seen outside of an arboretum, we nearly always only work within the gardens during the winter.

The rest of the estate is huge so we work there in the summer too.
