Ear muffs for Pacific Helmet

I have a brimmed Pacific helmet that I bought at TCI 03' in Baltimore that came with the factory installed brackets. When I bought it the guy from Fresco told me they sold Jonesred muffs that they shaved down to fit the bracket. I usually use headband ear protection, but would like to have the earmuff attachment to cut down on noise especially in winter when the earmuffs are not so hot.

So I talked to someone from Fresco recently and they told me that Peltors earmuffs will fit that bracket. Can someone give me a yes or no on if that is true. Also does anyone use the brimmed Pacific with a screened faceshield.

Gracias por la informacion..

Banditoman;

I have a Pacific brimmed helmet with brackets for ear muffs that I bought about 4 months ago from Sherrill. Sherrill also sells the muffs and about a month after purchasing the helmet I purchased the muffs. The muffswere not made by Pacific and the tab on the muff had just been shaved down so that it would fit in the bracket of the helmet. I think the sales rep said that the muffs were either Husky or Peltor muffs--I can't remember which. But, they didn't fit the helmet well and I had several sets of muffs from some Stihl helmets so I returned the first set to Sherrill and tried the Stihl muffs in the Pacific helmet. I shaved down the tab and got that to fit, but the muffs hit the rim of the helmet and didn't sit on my head. Note that the some helmet systems solve this problem by having a 'cutout' in the helmet so the muffs can sit on the side of your head; while others have a depressiuon on the side of the muff so it can sit on your head and under the edge of the helmet.

I may try another set of muffs, but only if I can find a pair that have that depression on them.

I really like the helmet, but I was pretty disappointed with Pacific regarding the ear muffs. I would think that if Pacific advertises and sells an ear protection system for the helmet it should fit well and be an intentional, integral component of the system, not a roughly modified element from another manufacturer.

If you find something that works, please let me know.

Got the Pacific last year. My used peltor muff needed to be shaved down with my dremel to fit. I was told that the muffs from the husqvarna helmet system fit, but I'm not sure.

Ive got the Pacific from Sherrill and I bought the Muffs and screen for the helmet. It took a little figuring out to get on but they do work. I also have gotten so use to cutting with the screen even when im on the ground I wear my helmet so I can use the screen. I almost feel naked cutting without it now.

We purchased the Pacific helmets and Jonesred muffs from Fresco at the same time. Have had not problems. As the earlier posts state, the Peltor should fit also (or so we have been told).

I bought my Pacific with the Jonsered muffs as well at the TCIA '04, I have yet to have any problems with them they seem to work just great. I have heard feedback from a few people about shaving the peltor muffs down and them working alright. I'd suggest looking into the Jonsered muffs.

I had a similar complaint that I posted on here about a month ago.

I also bought mine at this past TCIA. Also from the same "store", Fresco.

I didn't name the arborist store in my post because they were a sponser on this site. But they've been named now.

Apparently all or many of the Pacific helmets sold by Fresco at that time had the dang small slots that don't fit any ear muff systems that I know of.

My Pacific with the brim was shipped to me with the dark green Peltor ear muffs. And I could not put them together.

I contacted Fresco. Rob I think his name was, left a message telling me to cut them down and they will work fine.

I was a bit mad. I paid all that for a hardhat and the parts won't even fit together.

I said, no, I paid that much money, I shouldn't have to trim down anything. Even if it would only take 5 to 10 minutes. I don't want to take the time to trim a pair down when I replace them either.

Rob was nice enough to send a pair of Jonsered ear muffs and screen. He did not ask for the Peltor back. This was good on their part.

What I didn't like was this, the Jonsered came and I found that they had cut them down to fit.

It was nice that they sent the Jonsereds, but I think I should have gotten a correct hardhat. They did try to make me happy in one way.

I'm thinking Fresco had a large supply of Pacific hardhats with the small brackets meant for overseas hearing protection systems or something and it would have been too big of a loss to recall all of them.

Again, I think it was good of Fresco to try and please me in some way. At least I have another pair of muffs and screen. So I'm happy enough at that.

I do hate how my dang black headband in the helmet turned my forhead black for quite a while. Looks like the dye is finally done bleeding now.

I also think the chin straps are bulky and irritating.

But it sure do look nice!

oh, I just read Banditos post again, he bought his way back in 2003 TCIA show. Mine was this past one in Baltimore, 2006.

Guess it's been a re-ocurring problem.

That's not so good.

like i said, the Jonsereds are cut down also.

what actually does fit a Pacific helmet?

I think Pacific does have the brackets that fit Peltor and Jonsered. I'm quite certain Fresco said they just happened to get a shipment of the wrong helmets.

Don't some of you guys have a helmet with the wider brackets to accept the Jonsered or Peltor tabs?
